Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Historic Miniature Set of Dioramas

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a first person, open world, realistic medieval role playing game developed by Warhorse Studios s.r.o. (Czech Republic). The game has been released on February 13, 2018 on various platforms and have gathered millions of fans.

In November 2020 we have started designing the main character - Henry. Who suppose to initiate a series of five dioramas. Each of them may become a stand alone exhibit, while being connected with one another they comprise a scene from the game. We have chosen the castle defense episode with some minor adjustments.

Henry will defend Theresa, while his attackers will be represented by Markvart von Aulitz and two Cumans: archer and noble horseman.

HENRY

Small flashback for those, who played KCD too long ago.

In the very beginning of XV-th century Henry lived in the village of Silver Skalitz, planning to become a blacksmith just like his father Martin. In between lessons he began learning the basics of warfare and sword fighting in secret by Vanyek.

However, their peaceful life was interrupted. In the year 1403 Cuman army commanded by Markvart von Aulitz, one of King Sigismund's warlords, attacked and destroyed Skalitz (true historic even later known as the Sack of Skalitz). This was a revenge on Sir Radzig Kobyla (landlord of Henry) for sending valuable silver and his loyalty towards King Wenceslas IV - the rightful king of Bohemia and, unfortunately, Sigismund's half-brother.

Henry then had to stand up for his people and his country.

Modeling Henry

November 25, 2020 Update

In cooperation with Warhorse Studios and their loyal fans we have run several polls via social media and gathered preferences over how Henry shall be posed and what apparel and weaponry it should be equipped with. Based on this feed we have designed the character depicted here.

Making a cheap stand alone figurine is not something we are good at. Hence, we placed Henry right in front of a gateway of a castle. Bulk components are going to be made of wood and plywood, while small and tiny parts will be cast of bronze. The rest of diorama, including Henry himself will be made of pewter alloy. Total weight should be around 1 kg (2 lbs).

Casting the prototype

December 2, 2020 Update

This is going to be a post with video. We have created the decomposed elements of diorama with help photo polymer 3D printer. Same as those used for dental works. This allows for very high precision. With help of these 3D printed parts we made low temperature silicon molds. These are used for making the master model and prototypes of the future serial product.

Casting pewter into low temperature forms is only possible very few times before they are destroyed. Thus we have to be very careful during extracting the metal parts.

After metal components are ready, we polish them and then assemble. Grounding and painting is not very interesting, but very important part of the work. Final product must appear nice, but shall not oxidize in order to keep its original look for ages.

Wooden parts are cut by laser and then assembled. They have to be then painted properly to look like it is all made of metal. Well... unless we want to sell 5 times heavier product, we have to compromise.

Package provides the final touch

December 15, 2020 Update

After we assembled the prototype, it was nearly impossible to package it in a plain carton box. Therefore we decided to make a proper plywood package, which should not only protect the figurine, but also have a nice look and feel.

This took us a while. Inner shapes have to be fully tailored to the final product.

But finally, we made it!

Sir MARKVART von AULITZ

February 13, 2021 Update

Sir Markvart von Aulitz was a German knight in the service of King Sigismund of Luxembourg, who in 1403, led his Cuman army and invaded Bohemia. Markvart is the secondary valiant of Henry from Silver Skalitz in Kingdom Come: Deliverance game universe - he is the one who killed the boy's parents. In our project this knight stands against heavy armored Henry in front of the gates.
